A nightmare holiday has resulted in a family from the north-east of England being awarded thousands of pounds in compensation.
Susan Richardson's three-year-old daughter Scarlett became seriously ill with salmonella poisoning on a vacation in a Turkish resort.
Her and husband Ian have been awarded £6,500 for what Ms Richardson described as a "terrifying" ordeal, as they were stuck in the country, unable to arrange an early flight back to Bedlington, reports local newspaper the Chronicle.
"There were people ill everywhere and the holiday reps kept saying there was nothing wrong," she said.
As well as the £6,500 fee given to the Richardsons, Scarlett received £6,500 which will go into a trust fund until she is 18.
The family were staying at the Pegasus Palace Hotel in Sarigerme in 2006 and holiday operator First Choice said it was pleased to have finally reached an agreement.
