Compensation of £5k awarded to Bolton school pupil

Personal injury compensation of £5,250 has been awarded to a pupil following an accident at a school, it has emerged.

According to The Bolton News, Bolton Council granted the sum to the family of an eight-year-old attendee of an educational institute in the town after an incident in which he fell onto a gate and hurt himself.

New figures obtained by the news source showed this was one of two personal injury compensation settlements finalised in the area over the last 12 months, with the other being a £1,100 sum awarded to a 16-year-old who ran into a notice board.

Although the names of the claimants and schools involved were not revealed, it is thought that this accident occurred because the teenager ran into plastic window attached to the equipment and therefore sustained minor injuries.

Recently, the Daily Mail reported that Middlesbrough Council awarded a schoolboy £11,000 in damages after an accident at his place of education in 2008.
