Food poisoning leads to compensation pursuit

Food poisoning endured by a young child during a holiday in Turkey has resulted in her parents seeking personal injury compensation on her behalf.

Michelle and Seb Edim of the Sheffield district of High Green took their one-year-old daughter Daisy on a vacation to the eastern European destination and stayed at the Sheraton Voyager hotel, a five-star establishment in Antalya, a south-western coastal resort.

According to Mrs Edim, the hotel displayed an "utter disregard for basic health and safety standards", local news source The Star reports, meaning that she and her husband are taking legal action against tour operator Thomas Cook.

"Food was left uncovered and served lukewarm…fresh food was placed on top of stale remnants," she added.

The holidaymaker went on to say that Daisy suffered from "diarrhoea, loss of appetite and nappy rash" and, as a direct result of being ill for around five weeks, remains significantly underweight.
