Criminal Injury Compensation
If you suffered an assault or personal injury as an innocent victim of crime, you have a legal right to claim compensation. Claims Direct can help if you have been the victim of criminal injury by guiding you through your compensation claim, and helping you to get rehabilitation support for your injuries.
Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority
The Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA) was set up by the government to pay compensation to victims of violent crime. You can contact CICA on its official site.
CICA does not pay for the cost of a lawyer and you can claim for compensation without using one, but it can be very helpful to receive expert legal advice; especially as criminal injury compensation claims can become very complicated.
Claims Direct will only advise you to use a lawyer when we think you need one, and we are always happy to offer you some basic advice on how to claim by yourself.
It's essential that you report the incident that caused your personal injury to the police as quickly as possible, and to co-operate fully with their enquiries. If you hesitate, the CICA may decide against paying you compensation. There are also time limits on when you can claim compensation for a criminal injury.
