Worker may seek compensation over eye injuries
A worker who suffered eye injuries in an accident two years ago may take legal action.
In May 2008, the individual was performing his role during a firework display when the incident occurred.
As a result of the damage he sustained, he was left blind in one eye.
A subsequent investigation revealed that Jason Edgecombe, who trades as JWP Fireworks, contravened health and safety regulations.
It was also found that he had only been able to buy the firework that caused the problems because he had shown a forged public liability insurance certificate to a large fireworks company.
Commenting on the case, Bath & North East Somerset Council's manager for publication protection Sue Green said: "[The authority] will take strong action against those who needlessly endanger the safety of their employees."
She added that firms that are unsure over legal rules should get in touch with the council - which has offices in Bath, Keynsham and Norton Radstock.
