Worker awarded compensation over injuries
A worker who sustained injuries while performing his duties has secured compensation for his suffering.
Mark Downs was in a factory operated by Hadee Engineering when a metal sheet fell on him, South Yorkshire paper the Star reports.
He was using a designated walkway at the time of the incident, but his employers refused to accept full liability.
However, a judge has now ruled that the firm - which produces a range of products and was established in 1969 - was entirely to blame.
He also criticised the organisation for breaching health and safety regulations, including failing to properly supervise a tandem lift, not holding a written method statement and failing to carry out a risk assessment.
It was decided that Mr Downs, who is 39-years-old, is entitled to 100 per cent of the final settlement.
Commenting on the development, his mother, Sandra, said: "We are very relieved at the outcome."
