Women sues over dentist injuries
A woman is taking legal action over injuries she allegedly suffered as a result of mistakes made by a dentist.
Donna Delgado underwent a procedure to remove two teeth which involved a piece of equipment known as a drill bit burr.
After taking the teeth out, dentist Ralph Eichstaedt left the metal device in the wound.
Ms Delgado subsequently went on to suffer pain, dizziness, sinus infections and nasal bleeding.
According to her legal team, when she returned to complain about her symptoms, she was told they were normal.
Eventually, the 35-year-old was admitted to hospital, where the problem was diagnosed.
After the burr had been detected, Ms Delgado was referred for more surgery by an ear-nose-and-throat specialist.
She is seeking compensation for the suffering she has endured.
According to figures produced by the Office for National Statistics, there are more than 22,000 NHS dentists located around the UK, with in excess of 18,000 of these based in England.
