Woman who suffered injuries in fall secures compensation
A woman who sustained injuries when she fell in a hotel room has been successful in her bid to secure compensation.
Loles Leon tumbled and broke her pelvis and wrist in a hotel room in October 1999, the London Evening Standard reports.
The 57-year-old had met British actor Jeremy Irons - who has appeared in films such as Kingdom of Heaven - while they were filming the TV show Vertigo and the pair had been out for dinner and to dance before heading to the hotel.
However, the lights in the room were not working and Ms Leon slipped down 18 steps.
As a result of the damage she suffered, she had to spend 36 days in hospital.
In a new development, the actress has been awarded £36,000.
She remarked: "As Jeremy is such a gentleman he insisted I went in [to the suite] first. There was a staircase, I went to turn the light on and I fell. Everyone was screaming."
