Woman seeks compensation following dental trauma
A woman is seeking personal injury compensation because she required major dental work after biting into a shop-bought sandwich that had a stone in it.
Karen Addy - who is being represented by Russell, Jones and Walker in this case - purchased the food from the branch of Boots at Leeds train station in November 2006 and sustained broken bones in her mouth as the stone in the sandwich damaged some of her teeth, the Yorkshire Evening Post has reported.
Speaking to the publication, Ms Addy said that she felt her teeth "crunch" and subsequently developed a painful abscess and her face swelled up.
She therefore had to have the troublesome tooth surgically removed but then also required titanium implants in her jaw to re-stabilise it after the incident.
The treatment cost Ms Addy thousands of pounds and she is now determined to gain some sort of financial recompense for her ordeal. Boots - which has around 2,500 stores across the country - has already agreed to pay for the costs of the dental work.
