Woman injured in boating accident seeks compensation

news image A woman who sustained injuries while on a boat is taking legal action against the individual she holds responsible.

Frances Jackson alleges that fellow sailor Jack Haigh drove so close to another vessel that he caused her to hit her head on a railing, the Isle of Wight County Press reports.

The 58-year-old suffered damage to her head and was briefly unconscious.

According to a High Court writ, she developed pain, headaches and nausea as a result of the impact, which occurred in July 2006.

She was being taken back to Sea View Yacht Club - which has been in existence since 1893 - on a rigid-inflatable boat when the accident took place.

Ms Jackson, who used to work for three charity groups, says she has had to reduce her level of activities since the accident.

Sea View Yacht Club declined to comment on the case, which remains ongoing.
