Woman appeals for witnesses in compensation bid
A woman who lost her husband to the asbestos-related disease mesothelioma is calling for witnesses to come forward to help her legal battle to claim compensation.
Last year, Roy Skelton died from the disease at the age of 69, South Yorkshire paper the Star reports.
His widow June is now calling for his former colleagues at George Longden and Son - which has since gone out of business - to provide her with information.
Mr Skelton was employed at the firm in 1969 and 1970 and may have worked on projects at Shirecliffe College, Totley College, Stannington College, Barnsley Hospital and Rother Market.
Ms Skelton's case rests of the claim that it was during this time that he was exposed to asbestos fibres, which caused him to develop mesothelioma later in life.
As well as this medical condition, the insulating material is associated with asbestosis and pleural plaques, among other things.
