Widow calls for mesothelioma compensation review

news image A widow who lost her husband to a work-related disease has joined calls for the government to make it easier for victims to obtain compensation.

Caroline Squires' late husband Almer died from mesothelioma as a result of being exposed to asbestos while working for a firm in the 1960s, the Norwich Evening News reports.

Because of problems tracking down the company's insurance providers, she is not able to pursue her claim for damages.

She wants regulations to be introduced to make it easier for people in situations like hers to obtain money.

Ms Squires said: "It was important to my husband to claim compensation. He was worried about providing for his family following his death."

She added that it is difficult to believe there are no records of who the cover providers were.

In addition to mesothelioma, exposure to asbestos can result in other medical conditions, such as pleural plaques and asbestosis.
