Whiplash victim secures compensation
A man who suffered whiplash while on a bus has been awarded compensation for his suffering.
In February 2006, Peter Stone was travelling on a Stagecoach bus in Wellingborough when the driver braked suddenly while he was walking down the aisle to leave the vehicle.
As a result, he was thrown forward down the length of the bus.
He lost consciousness for a while and sustained damage to his neck, as well as his hip.
According to Mr Stone, he still experiences pain as a result of the accident.
Stagecoach - which describes itself as one of the UK's largest bus operators with a fleet of around 7,000 vehicles - admitted liability.
In a new development, Mr Stone was awarded £5,500.
The sum was reached in a settlement between the two parties and, following the agreement, the firm made no comment.
Meanwhile, Mr Stone hopes to return to his career in children's education.
