Travel firm negligence 'led to illness abroad'

news image More claimants have been named in a legal battle centring on allegations that a travel firm's negligence led to illness abroad.

According to the Ellesmere Port Pioneer, Ron Jones, Lisa Smith, Connor Duffey and Lillian Smith are among those seeking compensation from Tui Travel, trading as First Choice Holidays.

They suggest the company - which is an international leisure group that operates in around 180 countries worldwide - failed to monitor sickness among guests and staff at the Holiday Village Red Sea in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt.

In addition, it is suggested that the organisation did not ensure staff were trained to use hygienic and internationally accepted methods of food preparation.

Insects were seen on the buffet and uncooked meat was served, the claimants state.

They also note that bottled water was served in previously opened containers.

Those involved in the case suffered gastro intestinal illnesses, with some developing C difficile bugs.
