Teen awarded payout after bus accident

news image A teenager from the north-west has secured a payout after a road accident left her with injuries, it has emerged.

According to reports in the Manchester Evening News, Kayleigh Summers was travelling on an Arriva North West service when the driver's wheel came off in his hands.

The vehicle subsequently careered off the road and into a hedge.

As a result of the incident, the 16-year-old passenger suffered a twisted spine, whiplash and a chipped bone in her knee.

She was treated at Trafford General Hospital, which is run by Trafford Primary Care Trust.

Commenting on her ordeal, Ms Summers said: "It left me really nervous and I didn't go on a bus for weeks after. I have managed to get back to using buses now but I am really nervous, I don't think I'll ever be able to relax."

She added that she had to have physiotherapy following the crash and still suffers from occasional pain.
