Stevenage couple sue over illness abroad

news image A couple from Stevenage are suing a travel firm after suffering illness abroad.

Nicholas and Meral St John travelled to the Holiday Village Red Sea in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt in June 2008, Comet 24 reports.

While at the resort, which is located on the Sinai Peninsula and is a tourist hotspot, they were among a number of Britons who became sick.

They developed food poisoning two or three days into their stay.

According to Mr St John, "everybody was dropping like flies".

He added: "The children's meals were so badly cooked that the chicken was pink.

"The swimming pool wasn’t cleaned out - there was human waste in it, with people sat in there."

The family is among a group of holidaymakers taking legal action against First Choice.

In a High Court writ, they suggest the firm was negligent because it failed to ensure reasonable skill and care was used in the preparation of food and drink and to eliminate infection.
