Schoolgirl awarded £3k for broken finger
A schoolgirl has been awarded damages of £3,000 after suffering a broken bone during a birthday party in a play area at a Punch Taverns pub.
Caitlyn Radcliffe, a seven-year-old, had to be taken to hospital after an incident in which one of her fingers was fractured by being trapped in the door of a storage cupboard after a member of staff had closed it.
The child's right hand was put in a medical splint for three months following the accident, which occurred upstairs in the Wacky Warehouse at the Plough Inn in the town of Alsager - which is situated in Cheshire - in February 2009.
This happened after the door shut automatically and the pub chain has agreed to pay the youngster a sum of £3,000 for her ordeal following a hearing at Stoke Crown Court, which will be stored in a trust fund until she is 18.
