Postwoman receives compensation over arm injuries

news image A postwoman who sustained injuries as a result of a dog attack has secured compensation for her suffering.

The victim, who has not been named, was delivering post to a farm in February 2007 when the German Shepherd bit her.

She suffered damage to her arm when she tried to protect her face, with her ring finger particularly badly harmed.

Commenting on her ordeal, she said: "[The dog] was usually on a leash but even then, we always said that if it ever managed to escape, it could kill us."

Luckily her hand is ok now, she added. However, she will never be able to bend her finger properly and she has difficulty gripping things with it.

According to the Health and Safety Executive, the number of cases of dog attacks being reported by NHS accident and emergency units has increased by 40 per cent over the last five years.
