Pensioner to pursue burns and scarring damages?
A pensioner who sustained burns and scarring during a fire at his home may be eligible to claim personal injury compensation.
According to the Blackpool Gazette, the man, who is 65 years old, suffered severe burns to his legs and chest after a blaze broke out at his home on High Street in Blackpool on Monday (December 13th 2010).
The news source adds that he was rescued by two friends who had to smash a window to reach him and he was then taken to the Blackpool Victoria Hospital - which has one of the country's busiest accident and emergency departments and employs more than 3,000 people - for treatment.
While the cause of the inferno is not being treated as suspicious by the authorities, the man could decide to pursue damages if it was ignited by an issue beyond his control, such as a faulty sofa.
Steve Arnold, watch manager at Bispham Fire Station, said: "Paramedics worked on him for some time before he was taken to hospital."
