Pensioner plans damages claim after fall in town centre
A pensioner is planning to sue for personal injury compensation after she suffered a broken bone following a trip.
Pauline Burgess, a 67-year-old woman, fell over due to a loose paving stone on the high street in the Surrey town of Leatherhead earlier this month in an incident which left her with a fractured pubic bone, according to the Leatherhead Advertiser.
This injury meant that Mrs Burgess and her husband Ken were unable to join ten other family members on a holiday in Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt this summer and the couple are now planning to lodge a claim for damages against the local council for its liability in not solving this hazard.
Mrs Burgess, who fell unconscious after the fall, told the publication of her anger that nothing had been done about the problem by the local authority despite the fact that "it's not the first time people have said something about it".
