Pensioner plans compensation claim after accident
An elderly woman is suing West Lothian Council for compensation after she sustained a leg injury in a road traffic accident involving her mobility scooter and a large truck.
According to the Edinburgh Evening News, Ms Nancy Smith was making her way from her home when a big council-owned vehicle reversed into her. The incident left her scooter in tatters and also a leg injury after her motorised vehicle hit the limb.
The 74-year-old was forced to travel in the road because a truck was blocking the pavement. However, a different commercial lorry then reversed without warning and hit the pensioner.
She told the publication that she feared she might die because the vehicle initially showed no sign of stopping, but luckily the driver got out of the truck to see what had happened after he made contact.
Ms Smith is now planning to claim damages from the local council, which is based in the town of Dedridge.
