Pensioner awarded £4k for dental negligence
A pensioner has been granted £4,000 on the grounds of medical negligence after taking legal action against a dentist.
According to the Derby Telegraph, 75-year-old William Brewster sued Dr Efi Theodorou because the bridge and root canal treatment he underwent at Jordan Dental in Sinfin last April was inadequate.
Mr Brewster was left embarrassed when the tooth and bridge fell out during his wedding reception meal at The Lawns Hotel in Chellaston after he tied the knot with his wife Mildred on May 7th 2011.
"The bridge and tooth could not have fallen out at a worse time. It caused me a lot of distress on my wedding day. I felt a fool and was very upset," he told the news source.
Although Dr Theodorou - who, it is believed, operated as a self-employed dentist at Jordan Dental - did not accept liability for this issue, he did agree to award Mr Brewster £4,000 in damages for his ordeal.
