Motorists in Sanquhar 'may find it hard to get compensation after accidents'
Drivers in the Dumfriesshire town of Sanquhar may find it more difficult to secure compensation for injuries sustained in road accidents than many others around the UK, new research suggests.
According to moneysupermarket.com, this is the area where the greatest proportion of motorists are uninsured, with men aged between 22 and 25 the worst culprits for this.
Meanwhile, Hebden Bridge in West Yorkshire and Glasgow were placed second and third respectively.
Steve Sweeney, head of car insurance at moneysupermarket.com, remarked: "It seems men under 25 are not only the country's 'boy racers' but also 'law breakers'."
However, it is not impossible to claim compensation for collisions that occur with drivers who lack cover.
The Motor Insurers' Bureau was established in 1946 to compensate the victims of negligent uninsured and untraced motorists.
In a bid to lessen the problem of road users failing to secure cover, the organisation has launched a Stay Insured campaign.
