Money pledged to reduce risk of personal injuries caused by potholes

news image A local authority which may be left facing many personal injury claims for compensation as a result of potholes made worse by harsh weather conditions has revealed it is to invest in highway improvements.

According to Staines News, Surrey County Council has pledged £500,000 to repair dips that have been caused or exacerbated by the icy weather seen over the UK in recent weeks.

The news provider suggested that the areas of Ashford, Stanwell, and Laleham were hit particularly badly.

Local resident and campaigner Andrew McLuskey commented: "On Church Road in Ashford there are four very large potholes on the bridge over the railway line, which is a concern to public safety as it is a very busy road."

He added that, while it is good to know that the local authority is spending money, he is sure the cash allocated will "go quickly".

Although the weather is currently milder across many parts of the UK than it was over Christmas and at the beginning of this year, forecasters have predicted the country could be in for more icy conditions before the winter is over.
