Man sues after suffering head injury at work
An accident at work in which a man suffered a head injury has led to legal action being taken.
Consultant anaesthetist Dr Aubrey Bristow is seeking compensation from the London NHS Trust over the incident, which occurred in 2007, Express.co.uk reports.
He was performing his role during an operation at London's St Bartholomew's Hospital when he was knocked unconscious by a theatre light.
The medical professional was struck on the back of his head and fell as a result of the force of the impact.
Commenting on the incident, he said: "When I regained consciousness I had pain and bruising just above and behind my left ear."
Dr Bristow is seeking compensation for pain and loss of earnings.
However, the health trust denies the claim and says he may have slipped on sterilising solution.
According to the Health and Safety Executive, there were a total of 246,000 reportable injuries suffered by workers in 2008-09.
