Man seeks compensation over severe sickness
A man who suffered severe sickness while abroad is seeking compensation for his suffering.
David Morley was on a second honeymoon in the Dominican Republic when he was struck down by food poisoning and gastroenteritis, the Manchester Evening News reports.
The condition is an infection of the stomach and intestines and, according to the NHS, around 20 per cent of the UK's population are affected by it each year.
Mr Morely was unwell for nine days and had to be admitted to hospital and put in an isolation ward for eight nights when he returned to the UK.
The father-of-two said: "The holiday was ruined - I had uncontrollable shakes, I was shivering, breaking out in sweats, aching and rushing to the toilet ten or 15 times a day."
His wife was also ill, although not as badly as he was, he noted.
The self-employed taxi driver had to have a month off work after returning from the Caribbean island.
