Man seeks compensation over cycling accident
A man who suffered injuries in a cycling accident is seeking compensation.
In 2006, Alexandra Kotula was travelling home from work in St Albans when he was struck by a lorry, the Ashley Ainsworth reports.
The incident occurred as he was passing roadworks, which he alleges were unsafe.
He wants damages from three firms, including EDF Energy - which describes itself as one of the UK's largest energy suppliers and employs around 20,000 people.
The other companies involved in the case are Morrison Utility Services and Birch Utilities.
All the businesses deny liability and note that Mr Kotula was riding on the pavement at the time of the collision, rather than pushing his bike.
However, he maintains that the corridor left for pedestrians by the roadworks was not wide enough and was filled with objects.
The case is being heard in the High Court and a decision is expected imminently.
