Man may sue over injuries suffered in accident at work

news image A man may take legal action against a firm after he suffered injuries in an accident at work.

In 2007, Timothy Gossett was changing a valve with a colleague at Aberthaw power station when high-pressure air escaped.

As a result, dust and rust were forced out of the pipework at the plant - which is located in Glamorgan in the south of Wales.

Mr Gossett sustained damage to his right hand and forearm as a result.

He subsequently had to have operations to remove debris from the limb and has been left with permanent scars.

Recently, npower was fined £8,000 after admitting to breaches of health and safety laws in relation to the accident.

Commenting on the case, Judge Nicholas Cooke QC said it could have been much worse if Mr Gossett had been in a different position.

He remarked: "It's down to the grace of God and good fortune the injury wasn't more serious."
