Man may sue over broken bones
A man who suffered broken bones in a workplace accident may take legal action in order to get compensation.
In May 2008, the employee - who has not been named - was performing his role at Bainton Heights Farm.
He was clearing guttering on a building and was in the bucket of a telehandler when the incident occurred.
A colleague was operating the machine and inadvertently tipped the container down, meaning he tumbled to the ground.
As a result of the fall, the worker sustained a broken right leg, dislocated ankle, fractured shin and partially fractured heel.
He was in hospital for over a month and required extensive treatment to realign the bones.
Recently, the farm company involved was fined for breaching safety rules.
The Health and Safety Executive - which serves to protect people from risks that arise as a result of workplace activity - found that a guardrail fitted to the front of the bucket was effectively useless.
In addition, the telehandler and container should never have been used as a lifting platform.
