Man may sue over accident at work
A man who was the victim of an accident at work may take legal action in a bid to secure compensation.
Keith Dennis was a part-time employee at Hill Farm in Leiston in October 2008 when the incident occurred.
Despite having received no formal training on how to operate the machinery, he was instructed to cut back an overgrown hedge using a chainsaw.
The 49-year-old was not supervised as he underwent his duties and was given no protective clothing.
On the second day of his attempts, Mr Dennis was cutting an overhead branch when it fell, causing the chainsaw to come down onto his left elbow.
As a result of the incident, he suffered a severed artery and tendon.
Recently, the owner of the farm was fined for failing to comply with safety rules.
Figures produced by the Health and Safety Executive suggest that around 246,000 reportable injuries were suffered by workers in 2008-09.
