Man may sue after suffering injuries in accident at work

news image A man may take legal action in a bid to secure compensation after he suffered injuries in an accident at work.

In January 2008, the employee was conducting his duties in a factory in Ashton-under-Lyne when he became trapped in rotating machinery.

As a result of the incident, the 53-year-old lost one finger on his right hand and badly injured another.

In addition, he sustained friction burns, a cracked breast bone and broken ribs.

A subsequent investigation by the Health and Safety Executive - which serves to protect people from the risks that arise to their wellbeing as a result of workplace activities - revealed that the firm had failed to comply with laws requiring it to prevent access to any dangerous parts of machinery.

Inspector at the organisation David Norton said: "It's vital that companies take action to protect employees who are required to operate potentially dangerous machinery. Otherwise workers will continue to be injured in the future."
