Man injured in car accident secures compensation
A man who suffered injuries as a result of a car accident two years ago has secured a payout.
In April 2007, Gideon Sklair was crossing a road with a blind friend in Sydenham - which is located in south-east London - when they were struck down by a vehicle.
A judge ruled that the 49-year-old should get 90 per cent of any damages awarded, but the insurers of the driver involved disputed how much the level of compensation should be.
During a high court hearing, it was argued that the sum should be limited because of existing medical conditions suffered by Mr Sklair.
However, the disagreements have now been resolved, meaning he will receive money to help him cover the costs of his care.
Meanwhile, the motorist, 75-year-old Doreen Haycock from central London, was found guilty of driving without due care and attention and was fined a total of £300.
