Man has head injury compensation award upheld

news image A man who sustained a head injury while playing a game as a teenager has been awarded a personal injury compensation settlement.

Mark Barnes, who is now 23 years old, sustained an injury to his head and left shoulder while taking part in an activity called "objects in the dark" at his local scouts group nearly ten years ago, the Press Association reports.

As a result, Mr Barnes has been awarded damages of £7,322 following a case at Birmingham Crown Court when the Scout Association has lost the appeal it launched in an attempt to prove it was not liable for this accident.

The incident involved Mr Barnes striking a bench which was positioned against a wall at the Castle Bromwich Scout Group in February 2001 and a judge has ruled that the organisation - which provides activities for 400,000 young people in the UK - was responsible as the game was "dangerous".
