Man gets £3,700 compensation after passing out at work
A man has been awarded more than £3,700 in compensation after he inhaled toxic fumes during his job, which could have left him with a work-related disease.
Eric Drummond was working for Rotherham Refinishing Supplies - which has branches across Yorkshire - as a paint mixer when he was asked to begin putting together four separate chemicals in order to create an under floor heating system.
The 64-year-old commented that he began to feel unwell shortly after removing his mask when he had completed the task and subsequently lost consciousness on three occasions while waiting for medical assistance.
"Straight away I got a sharp pain in my stomach and started to feel dizzy," he said.
He added that it was found that the fumes had left traces of the harmful chemicals in his blood, meaning that he suffered even after being discharged from hospital. Mr Drummond had to take around three months off work following his ordeal.
