Man could seek compensation after trench collapses on himCompensation may be pursued by a holiday park worker after he was trapped in a trench that had collapsed.
Grzegorz Waluszkowski fractured his skull, jaw and cheekbones in the accident at work while he was laying a drainage pipe.
He had to be dug out by other employees at Devon-based Main Gate Leisure Limited before emergency services were able to attend.
An investigation by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) discovered that planning had been inadequate before the project had been attempted.
HSE inspector Jonathan Harris stated: "This incident could easily have led to a fatality and shows the vital importance of proper planning and adequate safety measures when carrying out this sort of work."
He added the support given to Mr Waluszkowski was "rudimentary" at best and was never going to be adequate.
It means Mr Waluszkowski could launch a personal injury claim in order to seek damages from his employer.
