Man considers legal action over knee injury

Sunday league player Carl Rutter was taking part in a game for Merryweather Old Boys at the BAWA club in Filton when his leg came into contact with an old goalpost socket which was buried in the pitch, the Bristol Evening Post reports.

He had to be taken to Frenchay Hospital - which is run by North Bristol NHS Trust - in order to have treatment on his knee.

The 33-year-old's limb had been opened to the bone and his teammates had to hold the tear together to stop the bleeding until an ambulance arrived.

Mr Rutter commented: "It was excruciating, the worst pain I have ever felt. It was bleeding quite a lot and I went dizzy and felt really sick."

Currently, he has to use crutches to get around and will be off work until at least the end of the year. In addition, he will not be able to play football for around three months.
