Holidaymakers seeking compensation over sickness

news image A mother and daughter are seeking compensation over sickness suffered by both of them while they were away on holiday.

Karen and Doreen Bowman were on a break to Tenerife when they contracted an infection which they say was the result of poor hygiene standards at their accommodation, the Burton Mail reports.

They are taking legal action against Thomson holiday, which arranged their stay on the Spanish island located off the coast of Africa.

Ms Bowman remarked: "I noticed a number of problems with food at the hotel and that the food was not particularly hot."

She went on to claim that there was a microwave in the restaurant with a notice to guests stating that if their food was not hot enough, they should use the device to heat it up.

In addition, serving utensils were swapped between dishes, she alleged.

A Thompson spokesman said that the firm focuses on the health and wellbeing of its customers.
