Holidaymaker sues over sickness abroad
A holidaymaker is taking legal action after he suffered sickness abroad.
Henry Stephenson, who is 73 years old, was on a trip to the Palma Nova Palace hotel in Majorca when he fell ill, the Sunderland Echo reports.
The grandfather-of-four was staying on the island - which is located in the Mediterranean and is the largest of Spain's offshore landmasses - for ten days.
He claims he was struck by salmonella poisoning and was bed-ridden as a result.
According to Mr Stephenson, it was "by far the worst holiday" he has ever had.
He is now suing Thomas Cook in a bid to secure compensation for his suffering.
"I became very ill and was eventually put on a drip for dehydration. They gave me an injection to stop the sickness, but even after that I was bedridden," he noted.
Meanwhile, a Thomas Cook spokeswoman said the firm takes all reports of illness seriously and it is investigating the case.
