Film extra injured on set receives compensation

news image A man who was injured while performing his role as an extra on a film set has been awarded a payout.

Jeff Lipman from Buckinghamshire was involved in the making of a movie called The Flood when the accident happened.

He was acting out a violent scuffle when a colleague pushed him too hard, causing his elbow to fracture.

As a result of the incident, the 48-year-old was unable to return to work for seven weeks and he required surgery on his arm.

Recently, Flood Productions admitted liability and the case was settled out of court.

Mr Lipman said: "It was a silly accident which caused me major inconvenience. Being self-employed I can't afford to be injured which is why I decided to claim compensation."

Although he still suffers pain in his elbow, he has now returned to employment and is working on a film with Schindler's List star Liam Neeson.
