Father secures compensation after football injury
A man from Oldham has been awarded compensation following an injury he sustained at a caravan park when playing with his son.
The Court of Appeal has awarded Michael Hall, 45, with £41,500, overturning an initial decision by Oldham County Court to throw out the case a year ago.
Mr Hall was hit by a metal goalpost as it toppled over when he was playing a game of football with his son at Old Park Wood caravan park in the Lake District in 2003.
On holiday with his family at the time, Mr Hall suffered teeth and jaw injuries following the incident and decided to take action against Holker Estate Company, which owns and operates the caravan park.
Holker Estate, which is owned by Lord Cavendish, operates three parks, with Old Park Wood being the largest.
According to the firm's website, Old Park Wood "is maintained to a superior standard" and it is continuing "to improve".
