Family to seek asbestos compensation?A compensation claim may be started by the family of a deceased man after it was confirmed he died from an asbestos-related illness.
According to the Hertfordshire Mercury, the inquest into Raymond Bevan's death in March this year at the Isabel Hospice in Welwyn Garden City has ruled he passed away due to mesothelioma.
Mr Bevan was diagnosed with the condition in 2010 prior to his death at the age of 49 and coroner Edward Thomas has now revealed this was the definite cause of his passing, meaning his family may now opt to pursue damages on his behalf.
"He was exposed from about 1983, when he started work as a fireproof sprayer ... it seems some people weren't as thorough in the decontamination processes," the official stated.
Mr Thomas went on to explain that contact with asbestos does not have to be particularly great in order for conditions such as mesothelioma to develop.
