Family considers legal action following death of baby
A family is considering taking legal action against a hospital after they lost their baby daughter, it has emerged.
Faith Amberley Davies was born at St Mary's Hospital - which was founded in 1970 and employs around 1,000 staff - in January 2007.
She had a congenital heart defect which meant that her windpipe was not properly formed, the Manchester Evening News reports.
After being delivered, the youngster underwent surgery to insert a tube into her throat so that she could breathe, despite the fact that doctors warned that her chances of survival were bleak.
Three months after the procedure, she died.
Although a coroner recorded an open verdict into the fatality, Faith's family claim that the treatment she received was not up to standard and that a lack of experienced staff contributed to her death.
They may now put in a claim for damages on the basis of alleged clinical negligence.
