Ex-soldier wants more compensation for knee injury

news image A former soldier who suffered damage to his knee while training for the army has revealed he wants more compensation.

David Matthews sustained the injury while on a company run and, as a result, he was unable to be deployed, thisisgloucestershire.co.uk reports.

Now, he has taken a job waiting tables in a pizza restaurant but cannot work a full week because his knee is not strong enough. He is restricted to completing 20 to 30 hours, rather than up to or more than 40.

The 27-year-old father-of-one received £5,500 from the Armed Forces Compensation scheme, which provides money for injuries, ill-health and deaths that are mainly due to service, the greatest cause of which occurred on or after April 6th 2005.

Commenting on the issue, Mr Matthews said: "My injury was caused and made worse by the army."

He believes he should be entitled to a pension because he cannot work a full week.
