Ex-police officer awarded £4,000 compensation

news image A former policeman has been awarded £4,000 in personal injury compensation after he sustained a muscular injury while riding on a bus in Nottingham.

According to news source This is Nottingham, Robert Pattison, who is 78 years old, sustained a ruptured bicep tendon as he attempted to cling on to the safety rails on a vehicle run by Nottingham City Transport (NCT) on Eastcote Avenue on Christmas Eve in 2007.

Mr Pattison, who attained the rank of superintendent during a 32-year career in the police force, filed a compensation case against the local authority, despite the organisation refusing to accept responsibility for the incident.

And following a lengthy legal case, he has now been awarded a settlement of £4,000 by the NCT, which recently introduced a new green bus scheme.

He told the news source that the pain from his injuries often kept him awake at night and also restricted him in terms of how much he could carry.
