Driver seeks compensation over crash injuries
A man who was injured in a road accident is seeking compensation from a fellow motorist.
In 2007, Gary McCann was driving along the M4 in Berkshire when the vehicle in front of him - which was being driven by Robert Scott - suffered a blowout of its engine.
The smoke caused by the incident resulted in Mr McCann's vision being impaired and he subsequently lost control of his car on the road - which links London with south Wales.
He then accidentally went into the hard shoulder and flipped the VW Polo over.
According to his legal team, it was negligence on the part of Mr Scott that caused the crash.
For example, it is alleged that he failed to maintain his car properly by conducting oil level checks.
Mr McCann wants compensation for the injuries he sustained and for his loss of earnings.
A hearing is scheduled to take place towards the end of this year.
