Driver awarded compensation over workplace injuries

news image A man who suffered injuries while at work has been awarded compensation.

The 53-year-old driver broke his ankle when he stepped down from a van on to an uneven manhole cover.

He had worked for West London Waste Authority - which is a statutory authority established in January 1986 - for over 11 years when the accident occurred.

As a result of the damage to his ankle, he is now at risk of developing a blood clot which could threaten his life.

The medical complaint, which is known as deep vein thrombosis (DVT), means he will have to take medication for the rest of his life.

Commenting on his condition, he said he is worried that he may suffer complications in future and this has had an impact on this day-to-day existence.

He remarked: "I am concerned about the serious risks DVT poses to my health and quality of life. I am always worrying about a repeat incident."
