Dog owner ordered to pay £2k in personal injury damages
A dog owner has been ordered to pay £2,000 in personal injury compensation after their pet scarred a woman for life by biting her.
According to the Kidderminster Shuttle, the victim was attacked as she walked her own canine when a Staffordshire bull terrier ran towards them. The animal - which was not on a lead - then bit the female on the arm after she picked her own pet up in fear that it would be attacked.
The offending dog ripped a chunk out of the woman's arm, which required medical attention and will leave a lifelong mark on the affected area of her limb.
During a subsequent case at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court - which was brought about after police had traced the terrier's owners - an unnamed woman pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to keep her animal under control in a public place.
She was consequently fined £2,000 for the incident in the Worcestershire town of Bewdley and ordered to make sure that her pet wears a muzzle at all times from now on.
