Cyclist to seek compensation after pothole accident
A cyclist who was injured when she rode over a pothole is to seek a payout from her local authority.
Penny Edwards was travelling towards to Norwich city centre when the front wheel of her bike became trapped and she fell to the ground, the Norwich Evening News reports.
She is a keen cyclist, having completed an Ironman World Triathlon Championship - which is organised by the World Triathlon Corporation - in Hawaii last year.
The teacher and counsellor was left with a chipped tooth, cuts and bruises to her face.
She said: "It was awful. It didn't look like much but it really was nasty."
Ms Edwards is now planning to sue Norfolk County Council over the incident.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for the local authority stated that it adopts a "common-sense approach" to dealing with potholes.
He added: "We rely upon the judgement of professional inspectors, supported by general guidance."
