Cyclist receives compensation for road accident

news image A man who was injured in a road accident while using his bike has been awarded compensation.

Over a decade ago, Manny Helmot was involved in a collision with motorist Dylan Simon, the Guernsey Press and Star reports.

In a new development, a court has awarded him damages for his suffering.

Following the decision, his family thanked the court for its time. However, they revealed they are considering an appeal because they believe that the multiplier used to calculate part of the award had been too low.

Mr Simon, who the claim was brought against, was not present at the hearing.

According to the AA, road users, including cyclists, may be at an increased risk of accidents currently due to the state of the highways following the icy weather.

The organisation suggested that many people may be making compensation claims as a result of injuries and damage they suffer in such incidents over coming weeks.
