Couple sue over holiday sickness
A young couple who suffered illness while on a trip abroad are taking legal action against the holiday company they booked the vacation with.
Natalie Daymond was on an all-inclusive holiday to Mexico with boyfriend James Clark when she was struck down with food poisoning, the Journal reports.
So severe was the case that the 23-year-old had to be treated in hospital and was hooked up to emergency machines for four days.
She alleged that the hygiene standards in the Barcelo Costa hotel in Cancun - which is located on the south-east coast of the country in the state of Quintana Roo - were poor.
Ms Daymond said: "I was in hospital for days and didn't know what was happening. It's a frightening experience being in a different country and having hallucinations because you are so ill."
She is taking legal action against Thomas Cook and a spokesperson for the company said that a full investigation into the case is ongoing and it will continue to discuss the complaint with the couple's lawyers.
